The opioid epidemic continues to be a major concern as opioid-related deaths have continued to increase in recent years.  This session will discuss strategies for identifying patients who may benefit from medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD). Attendees of this course will review MOUD treatment options, including approaches for selecting an appropriate treatment plan.

  1. Describe the rationale for increasing access to evidence-based prevention, screening, and treatment of opioid use disorder.
  2. Recall FDA-approved medications utilized in the management of opioid use disorder.
  3. Identify available resources to assist pharmacy team members in providing appropriate care for individuals with opioid use disorder.
  4. Discuss FDA-approved medications utilized as overdose reversal agents.
  5. Develop a treatment plan for an individual with opioid use disorder.
